Jenn Downs is the Director of User Experience Design at Points of Light and is currently studying how tech and design can shape the volunteer experience. She got her start in tech with MailChimp and is now an internationally welcomed speaker in the UX community.
Jenn is a mentor for Code for America and invented the slightly awkward, yet truly helpful, Laptop Hugging Method for remote mobile testing. She recently created and is an organizer for Atlanta Tech Citizens.
Outside of being a web nerd, Jenn dotes on her dogs Dickie and Waylon, is a songwriter, and plays bass and sings in Atlanta bands The Sunset District and The Downs. She also volunteers regularly with Atlanta's Feminist Women's Health Center and is a 2018 Errin J. Vuley Fellow, a 10-month leadership development program focused on gender, racial and reproductive justice.
I love speaking at conferences both local and around the world. So far I've given talks at conferences focused on UX, design, creativity, music, tech volunteering and email marketing.
I'll be speaking at FuckUp Nights on April 26th, 2018 at We Work in Buckhead (ATL), sharing a recent fail as a community organizer.
